elkMonitor's alerting system provides the utmost in flexibility allowing you to setup a notification system based on a schedule or escalation based model. Alerts can be sent to any TAPI compliant Numeric or Alphanumeric pager, via email or via Short Message Service (SMS) alert. Each alert contains the details of the failure and can optionally include Trace Route information for connectivity errors to help isolate the source of the problem.

Schedule Based Notifications
Use this option when different staff members are to be notified based on the time of day or day of week. Using elkMonitor's notification setup you can configure recipients who will receive all alerts sent during working hours and others who will receive alerts during evening or weekend hours.

Escalation Based Notifications
This option allows you to define how many times an alert must occur before it is initially sent and also how many alerts will be sent for a failure. Optionally notifications can be configured using this option to notify some users only if an error condition is unremedied after a certain period of time. For instance in the event of a site failure the initial alerts could be sent to the first line support staff, if the failure condition continues for 30 minutes then alerts could be sent to supervisory personnel to alert them of the situation.

Combined Escalation and Schedule Based Model
Use a combination of both methods for even more flexibility.
