This is the monthly cost for each plan. By Signing up for a year's worth of service you'll get one free month of service. Support for monitoring additional targets in the Business and Enterprise plans can be purchased for the Additional Target price. Please note the Business and Enterprise plans already include monitoring of a URL and an additional service in the base price.

The Transactional and Transactional Plus plans use a Step based pricing model allowing you to use the included number of steps to monitor as many sites as needed.

This is the maximum frequency at which Availability tests will be executed. During website Availability tests only the page's html is downloaded.

This is the maximum frequency at which Performance tests will be executed. Performance tests involve downloading the page html as well as all the page content. This more closely simulates the time it would take to download a page in a web browser.

Tests/Steps included in base fee

A target is a URL or service running on a specific port. The Professional plan includes monitoring of one URL via HTTP. The Business and Enterprise plans include monitoring of a URL via HTTP/HTTP and also monitoring a POP3, SMTP, FTP, NNTP or DNS server in the base price. Monitoring of additional targets can easily be setup in the Business and Enterprise plans via our web interface.

The Transactional and Transactional Plus plans use a step based pricing model. Each page request is counted as a step regardless of its URL allowing you to test multiple sites/URLs using the alloted steps. 

The elkMonitor service currently supports monitoring HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, POP3, SMTP, NNTP and DNS servers. If you would like support for additional service types please email us.

This is the maximum number of persons who may be notified when an alert occurs.

All plans include the option of daily and weekly performance summaries via email. These reports can give you a heads up on any performance issues your servers may be experiencing.

Our real-time web reporting interface allows you to generate charts of the minimum, average and maximum response times for your sites for a given period. Also included are reports of any failures and access to Trace route information for failed attempts.

Email notifications can be sent during a failure of a site and optionally when a site comes back up.

SMS notifications can be sent to a cell phone or PDA during a failure of a site and optionally when a site comes back up. There is a small charge per SMS alert.

Additional logins can be created for an account to allow access from other users. These logins can optionally be Read-Only so as to prevent these users from changing the monitoring settings.

elkMonitor supports pagers both via email and also the industry standard TAP interface*. Both number and alphanumeric pagers are supported. There is a charge per page when sending alters to pagers via a toll call.

Escalation support allows elkMonitor to send alerts to additional personnel when a failure exceeds a certain duration. For example initial warnings of a site failure could be sent to the first line of support personnel but if a site was still down after one hour then elkMonitor could alert senior support personnel.

elkMonitor supports Basic Authentication for connecting to password protected websites.

You can specify text that should appear on a page and elkMonitor will alert you if that text is missing. This feature is quite handy for make sure that dynamically generated web pages are complete. Without this checking sometimes dynamically generated pages may be only partially returned which may not generate an error when checking strictly at the HTTP protocol level, by checking a string which appears at the end of the page you can be assured that elkMonitor will notify you in the event that text doesn't occur on the page.

elkMonitor can monitor form pages by posting user specified form data allowing you to be sure that pages that process forms are functioning properly.

elkMonitor can optionally follow page redirections when a HTTP server returns a 3xx response.

elkMonitor can perform a trace route when it's not able to connect to a server. The trace information may be helpful in tracking down the location of the problem. Trace Route information is sent with failure notifications and is also available from the web reporting interface.

The elkMonitor service can optionally monitor the content of your web pages to make sure you are notified in the event your site is modified without your permission. With the rising incidents of web vandalism you can be sure elkMonitor will alert you as soon as your content is modified. elkMonitor checks both the size and last modified dates of your pages. This feature only works on those pages which are static. You can utilize our "Check page content for Specified Text" feature for monitoring dynamically generated pages.

The Instant Test feature allows you to test any site from any Test Agent on demand.

Our "Page Performance Monitor" tracks the page loading speed of your site as a user with a browser would see it. This gives you the information you need to make sure your pages are loading properly and quickly. Our web reporting interface gives you both summary and detailed information on the load times of the monitored pages and can even report on the load time of specific elements or classes of content such as images, Flash, etc.

This feature utilizes elkMonitor servers on various internet backbones across the US to provide detailed performance information on how your site performs from a broad geographic region. This performance data is easily access from our web based reporting system.
These additional servers are also used by elkMonitor to make sure that your site has indeed failed when an error is detected, our main server checks with each additional server to make sure that they cant reach your site either. This additional checking helps to make sure elkMonitor doesn't generate false alerts.

This feature allows elkMonitor to fully test multiple step web applications using scripts recorded using our elkMonitor Recorder tool.
